Spraying of molten metal onto a gritblasted steel surface. Imparts corrosion protection. Zinc metal spray gives superior cathodic protection but aluminium gives better corrosion protection in marine and high pollution environments. The process gives corrosion protection comparable to galvanising without the danger of heat distortion or drips and spikes, but is usually more expensive.
