Micaceous Iron Oxide is a pigment often incorporated into multicoat paint systems to improve weathering and corrosion resistance. Its lamellar nature forms a barrier to penetration of the film, and it is very resistant to degradation. Used in the final coat it gives an attractive grey sparkle finish, or if a colour is required it is normally overcoated with 2 pack polyurethane.
